This is a typical version of the basic hair rig which has been tied using the knotless knot, this rig can be made up with any combination of materials that take your fancy...all the different materials work and are all worth trying - a very versatile rig that can be used with almost any bait!
Short Hair Rigs
Two versions of the Short Hair Rig, one using a stiff hook link & one using a stiff hook link, both versions are excellent carp catchers & well worth a try.... These are often used as short as an inch or two!
Hinged Rigs - Ideal for popped up baits of all kinds
An excellent rig mainly for use with popped up baits but as most rigs can be used for bottom baits, again this rig can be made up using any materials that you wish to try, the top hinged rig has been set up with a D-Rig arrangement on the hook and the bottom rig has been set up using a standard knotless-knot. Terry Hearn uses a version which uses stiff hook links for both the boom & pop-up section, often called "The Terry Hearn Stiff Rig" this rig has been used to catch many of the countries largest carp.
Bottom bait mountings
With bottom baits its best to keep your bait as neutral in the water as possible, just laying on the bottom & almost floating. A difficult task but possible with the right bait mixes & different thickness of hook & so on!
Pop up mounting
Dont forget you can use the pop up set with most baits! nuts, sweetcorn, boilies the lot!

Zig Rig
The Zig-Rig allows a buoyant bait to be fished from the lakebed (legered) at any set depth from a couple of inches above the lakebed right up to the water’s surface. This allows the angler to be able to present the hookbait at the depth at which the carp are either cruising, or more importantly, feeding.
As there are so many rigs you can use, we've included two more rigs which can be adapted in many ways to suite most situations!
